Title: Good focus cities?

How do we decide on which cities have the potential to be focus cities?

Well. the first way of narrowing it down is what continent it's on... You can only have focus cities on the same continent as you started on (unless you request to be changed to a different continent... then you're stuck solely on that continent).

After that, probably whatever factors you'd like.  i'd pay some serious attention to competition though.  and likely, bigger cities would be better focus cities then smaller ones.

To be honest there is no point in starting in a place like London Heathrow, way too many airlines.

My rule of thumb was look for an airport with more than 10 mil passengers and no departing routes. If you get an airport like that its a sure money maker.

How do we start focus cities? Everytime I go to make one there are no cities listed!

Rent 4 gates in an airport then go to "rent gate">"create hub" and create one.

4 gates in an airport on your continent and go to create base in view/rent gates.
