Title: Research route?
Post by: fazon on September 02, 2009, 12:42:35 am
Airline Name: International Airlines [INT]
Airline ID: 30293
Airplane ID: 3921
World: 130

Why doesn't the Research route page show the DHC-4 Caribou's name/info under "aircrafts capable of flying this route?"

I would say that its because the aircraft has been withdrawn from being manufactured in game, it no longer displayed on the research route results. Thats a change that we may have to implement to allow users to see existing aircraft they have in their fleet in the results.

Well is there a way to find out the time it would take? I don't want to waste the plane's free time.

Use the following formula:
Time taken = (Distance / Speed) + (Turn time * Number of Trips)

Note that the number of trips is twice the frequency (i.e. an 0.5 route means you fly once per day, a 1 route means twice per day (there and back)). Round up if in doubt. This should give you a decimal time, i.e. getting 0.5 back means half an hour, not 50 minutes.

Alternately
You could try and create the route. The fee for creating a route isn't too high.

Theres a fee for creating a route? lmao.

I'm low on in-game money and I don't want to rent a gate, have to pay the full month, and return it.

The fee I believe CHR is referring to is marketing costs generated by researching a route. I don't know the equation that calculates exactly how much the marketing fee is, but i ranges from a few thousand to half a million for long-haul routes.

So is it going to get fixed?

Honestly, I don't think this will be high on the developer's to-do list.

The formula to figure out how long it will take to fly a route has been posted all over this forum.
