Title: Counter Overworked and Misused Aircraft
Post by: rayedk on July 23, 2009, 06:48:27 am
Leave the past; today, we say hello to a new era.
Humans declare their care for others. As a people, we indulge in giving compliments, sharing assets, committing random acts of kindness. However, we seem to forget too quickly. We seem to assume that only animate objects are capable of accepting care and love. Although we adulate our people and non-human companions, we dismiss the inanimate beings of Earth which long greatly for our attention and affliction.
And, my friends, of these inanimate objects, are aircraft. For over a century now, small general aviation owners and megalomaniac corporations alike have abused our airworthy creations. We created these objects, planting in them the seed of roaring power and life. We were artists, gracefully painting strokes of technology and wonder.
Yet, now we allow our hunger for wealth to control our actions. Our greed leads us to abuse these fine creations.
Did they ask to be created? No. However, we created them, and they deserve the same respect we grant mankind. When aircraft are overworked, they bleed paint, shed tears of oil and fuel.
As the executors of the aircraft we purchase, it is our duty to choose models which have not already been selected time and time again. We must stray from the mores of airline society. We must end the overuse and misuse of SE 210 Caravelle Super 10Bs. In World 730 alone, there are over 2800 of these birds in use, while only 550 starter aircraft and circa 200 of all other types. It is also apparent that there may soon be an abuse of Airbus A319s as well; but, we can prevent this! If we work together to purchase a variety of aircraft, the beautiful airplanes may be more at rest. It is our duty to end this injustice! Aircraft deserve to be free, and we can all begin by buying aircraft which may feel lonely and unnoticed instead of attaining tired and abused ones.
COMA: Counter Overworked and Misused Aircraft strives to end the injustices suffered by these graceful birds. COMA hopes to end aircraft abuse and bring peace to every being, both animate and inanimate, on this beautiful planet.

Inanimate objects are "beings" which feel "lonely and unnoticed" and long for our "attention and affliction"?
HAHAHAHAHAHA
That being said, I do agree in a sense. I tend to choose aircraft that I like, rather than stocking my fleets with those that are most economical.

WHAT DO WE WANT? AIRCRAFT VARIETY! WHEN DO WE WANT IT? NOW!!! I agree with you completely. JOIN THE AIRCRAFT REVOLUTION! JOIN COMA! Now where can I get my application?

Setting the COMA graphic (already sized properly) as your signature is a way to show allegiance to COMA's intents and beliefs.

I also wish to declare myself an official member, but as such, I figure UFAGS' sig picture is naturally acceptable.

Join it. Remember,
Only you can stop airplane abuse.

I agree that excessive amounts of Caravelle Super 10B's are being used. As a result, 18th Caravelle that I just ordered may well be my last - I am looking into 2 alternatives to the super 10B's to buy in future.
But I fear you will have a tough time convincing others to part with their beloved Caravelles. They offer value most can't refuse.

Coma will be pleased with anyone who makes an effort to let the Caravelles rest and be free.

I fear that soon it wont just be caravelles you want to be set free, but also the Dassault Mercure. A plane I am interested in myself, it has already had 109 orders within 12 (game-time) days of its introduction.

Of course, Coma is closely monitoring aircraft numbers in various worlds to determine which are in the greatest need of rest and peace.

The Dassault Mercure is another very good value for money plane (another French plane - they seem to make the good ones), I've used it in the past very successfully (although it didn't seem too popular back then). I might use it to replace my Super Caravelles (alright, I admit, I'm a Caravelle addict). The only problem is the limited range.
On a side note, if you really want to stop aircraft abuse, you could try buying rare aircraft and reselling them on the aircraft market (brand new) at low prices (say 0% mark up). It is quite likely people would buy them to avoid waiting for delivery. But the plan could be quite costly...

I think you should put the whole A320 family (A321, A320, A319, A318) on the intermediate threat list...

Sorry, but I've already decided to go with 717/MD-90 for #799 as they share commonality.

I'll go for A320 family in #737. There's no point to introduce a slow plane, which means more units in return to serve a group of line. Unless B737NGs fly faster, Boeing will lose ALL my orders to Airbus.
One exception is Bombardier CRJ-701s. I appreciate them as they can perform an unusual high speed. For me, price? I don't care, I need a faster unit after all.

I'm proud to say I never use any overworked aircraft!
MD-81's in w593, while everyone else is using Dassault Mercures/10B's.

The physical appearance of the Airbus A320 family is much better than its direct Boeing competitor, IMHO. At the end of the day, whether I would fly A320s or B737NGs depends on what I want to see in my fleet; profitability-wise, I don't think they differ that much.
As a result of my preference I fly 98 Airbus A320s (including A319 and A321) with 14 on order in private world 737, which is the first modern world I ever played.
Back in the days when public world 506 was still in place, IIRC there were over 10,000 active Caravelle 10Bs. Now that IS totally insane, causing fierce competition among airlines that fly this very aircraft type on the same route. I'll bet that if AM were largely parallel to the real world, the fate of Suds Aviation would be quite different. I used a couple of 10Bs for a while, then sold all of them in favour of the DC-9-30s, which is a nice craft, underused in that world.
IIRC, Boeing 737-200s also grew overused towards the latter half of that game, with more than 4,000 in active service. :(

Anyone seen the overusage of Fokker F100s? They seem pretty unhappy. :(

I wants to join. The Boeing 757-200 is also overworked

COMA will be hosting an aircraft sale in the coming days. This sale will promote the use of generally forgotten and unused aircraft by providing airlines with the opportunity to buy brand new aircraft at reduced pricing.
COMA, the organization dedicated to stoping the abuse of aircraft in the worlds, will henceforth reassert it's mission in world #1297 with the addition of the "Super 748" and the "Shorts 360-100" to the "Immiediate Threat" warn level.
Players and those concerned are advised not to operate those aircraft.
Please also note the Vardax Corporation's AeroHotter remains on the list.
