Title: Assign Aircraft to Fleet
Post by: citogaston on June 19, 2009, 12:28:55 am
I've been reading about some of the proposed changes, and some of the topics deal with assigning aircraft to fleets.
So I'm wondering, how do many of you use the fleet function as it exists now? I've been assigning planes to fleets based on the cities where they are based. Thought also about doing it based on plane capacity or distance of routes flown. Fleets are just a way to help manage things, no?

I assign fleets by where the airplanes fly- which is essentially the same as the size of the aircraft. That way, I know what planes fly int'l, in the same continent, and short-range flights.

They are a management tool, thats why I nicknamed it "FMS" or Fleet Management System.
It potentially will also allows users to eventually set prices for meals etc on a fleet basis, and show to other users/airlines what fleet a route is being operated by. Thus it is our workaround for subsidiaries.
