General Chat / Pretend Historic Airline Ads

For those that remember me... I still have some of these saved....
For those that don't.. One of the things I like about this game vs others was the ability to create a more realistic complete airline representation. Its one of the reasons I wore out a copy of Airlines 6...
One of the things I did was attempt to create a brand for my airline with FF program details, ad campaigns, slogans and names of important company officers..
Here are some of the ads I created over the rounds. I will include some details where I can remember them.
This was my very first one. It originally appeared at another game. The idea of that airline was deep discounting, bottom feeding budget airline. The original picture came a from a Mesa Airways investor relations picture.
This is from the same game. The theory was my little airline used all leather seating on every plane no matter what. I don't know where I got the original photo..I suspect I 'borrowed' it off the net.
The next series was from when it was a single world here. I was positioning my airline as a single class, all business class airline(think Midwest Airlines). I didn't do the entire 1 euro price drop thing. The first two photos are from the destination cities tourism departments, the third is from a RL travel company ad.
This was a simulated newspaper ad touting the alliance I was in here(the precursor to the USG).
This was from a round when I had competitor that wanted to race to the bottom on fares and create .5 routes all over. This was before the .5 route limitations were added. The tag line on the ad read "Favorite Home Town Airline" to represent the fact, I carried many more passengers to and from Kansas City. Also with more realistic frequencies business passengers would have preferred my airline to his.
The original photo came from the Seattle tourism bureau.
This one is from the very first 1950's round here on AM. The idea behind my airline was service from all the small cities to Chicago to beat train service. I admit, I was one of the players pestering Stephen to add earlier years rather than just repeating modern era rounds over and over. Honestly, I wanted 70's and 80's added. Stephen tricked us and put in a 50's round. The original photo came from a museum brochure I got in Chicago. Even though the round started in 1950, We operated from O'Hare.. which didn't exist... The round was ALOT of fun.
Personally, I prefer the Vegas or Stockholm ones to the rest. I love the colors I was able to use with those photos. Anyone else want to share???

Bugs / Create route error

I keep getting a dead link error when I attempt to use the create route button. I can hit go back and return to the main menu for the world.

General Chat / Questions about the airport D-base....

I realize that it is HUGE undertaking.. But the it is starting to get a bit ridiculous some of the airports that are appearing...
KGBG.. Galesburg Municipal... It isn't even a Part 139 airport, and can't have any commercial service... So where did a passenger number for an airport that doesn't report them come from?
KPWK Palwaukee..(Chicago Municipal)... No commercial service or scheduled charters...... So where did a passenger number come from
KDUG Douglas-Bisbee.... This was an d-base error reported 2 rounds ago... Submitter even admits there isn't any commercial service and thusly no reported FAA pax number...
KMKC Charles B. Wheeler.... Not even open to larger than 30 seat A/C without 24 approval, and no air carrier ops more than 15 minutes before or after arrival and departure... Does this sound like an airport that has commercial ops???
When did user invented numbers become accepted amounts for the d-base? We already discourage Wiki numbers which are user invented......

General Chat / Had a VERY good week....

I had probably one of the best weeks in a LONG time for me......
Many of you know, my wife and I recently had twins. They have been in the hospital now for two months, and it sounds like one of them is going to be coming home this next week....
My current employer's sales staff managed to sell enough products, so I didn't have to lay off any of my staff this week as was threatened....
Also some of you know that I took over the treasurers position for a 250 family social club in September. The books of this club were a disaster and there was no budget even started for 2008. I finished fixing the books this past week, and I finally wrapped up the budget today...... And the members won't see a dues increase.
I had two job interviews this week. One with a regional airport as the facilities director. I didn't get offered the job, but the gentleman that did has been in the industry for 30 years and he is 'slowing' down to the regional level. The second is as the stores manager with a LARGE airline at one of their MX facilities. I am going to counter offer, but I don't expect they will like it. A family of six requires ALOT of things for relocation.....
And to top it off, I finished my First Responder classes for the fire department this week....
I think I am going to go to the kitchen and see what is frosty, cold, in a bottle, and full of hops........

Bugs / [FIXED]2 lease problems

1. An Aircraft I had out for lease, the lessee picked it up. It now shows as 'Lease Expired' and the lease rate at approximately 4 times the actual rate(rate shown is 1,932,106 rate is actually 500,000). Aircraft ID: 2994
2. Another Aircraft on the public lease market is listed twice at exaclt the same rate and information. Aircraft ID: 18853

Game News / Introducing one new moderator: CornField

Good Afternoon to all.
I thought I would drop a short message in to introduce myself to those of you that don't already know me.
I am 35 years old, and a married father of 4 kids. I actually live in the US Midwest, about 100 miles or so from Chicago.
This is my third full round of Airline Mogul. I was attracted here by a player from Airline Empires. I was instantly attracted by the diversity of this game, compared to the lack of it on the 'other game' The feeling that the team here really wants the players inputs to make the game better is a big draw to me.
So all that stuff out of the way. A bit about my moderating style.
This isn't my first moderator rodeo. I'm currently a moderator for my local Jeep club.
1. This game and forum are the private property of StephenM and whomever else is backing it, period. They are nice enough to provide it for your enjoyment, as well as mine.
You don't like it, go do something else.

Okay, other than D Express and his personal pack of morons. (I'm still pretty impressed how big your gaggle of idiots was)
I seem to have picked up a 'hate' airline. puesdoScandinavian, or some other nonsense pretty close. It popped up on about 50 routes I am on, at a price 1 euro less the my fare.
It really is kind of an honor to get one.
I wish I knew who the real owner was so I could return the favor. :twisted:

I just got messages about broker orders that were ready for delivery to the ordering airlines.
Problem is, the aircraft were ready hours earlier and the ordering airlines had already purchased the aircraft.

First, congrats! Most of the new things added look and work very well.
Second, thanks on getting at least some kind of operating costs added to most of the aircraft. I have a feeling that will help reduce my complaints about people just dropping widebodies on every city pair regardless of actual demand.
My question though: the crew column only shows the number of cockpit crew, what about cabin crew? I realize that, that number could change based on a particular airlines desires in cabin customization. But shouldn't it show and figure in at least the minimum required number of f/a? Figuring in those additional costs would also help push widebodies to where they belong, and leave turboprop aircraft as necessary parts of the fleet, instead of 'start-up' or fun to play aircraft.
Here is an example of what I am talking about.
Last round I operated MCI-SGF with 2 MD-87 round-trip daily, for 278 seats each way. My only competition operated 3 772 round trips daily or 1320 seats each way daily. For a total of nearly 1600 seats each way :shock:
In reality this is a route with 2 daily B1900D flights, or total of 38 seats in each direction daily.
