In the below example which would be the most economical choice?  Is 12 more seats worth 1.8m? Would the fuel savings offset having less seats?

Seats    Speed    Range   Turn Time  Price             Fuel Usage
Fokker F27-200   52        256       1224      0.28         ?8,687,188     159.00
Fokker F27-400   40        256       1225      0.23         ?6,884,397     138.00

Thanks,

Jack

Although I am decently new to this game, personally in this case buy the cheaper aircraft. What I have noticed that small aircraft that are close make about the same amount of money because of how much you can jack up the ticket prices due to lack of seats. I use this to my advantage when using executive jets with only 12-45 seats to fly half way around the world, these jets are cheap, and you have no competition which means you can charge 2200+ for a ticket. The aircraft you are using you can not do that with at much, but same idea.

Personally I'd say its up to you, but if that's the best aircraft (In your opinion) within that price bracket then I'd probably go with the -400.

I would get the 400 too. There really is no point in paying 2 thousand more for 12 extra seats.

The 52 seater might hold it's value better than the 40 seater, if you plan on selling it when you replace it.

If I'm right, the -200 will need another flight attendant because of having 52 seats. Add to that the increased fuel consumption and the higher price, I would choose the -400.

The only exception would be if you operate from a big airport, there I would use the -200.

The 52 seater might hold it's value better than the 40 seater, if you plan on selling it when you replace it.
I believe that just the fact that it is a Fokker 27 - a known plane - increases the chances of it being sold, especially in big worlds. I don't think the seat difference has a big effect, the smaller plane would be cheaper then the bigger one, also increasing chances of being sold.

Number of seats is  important factor in game, when are you flying between big hubs you are needed more seats to cover gate expenses and make some profit.

Example when are you flying from big hub to some big hub some 20 pax plane will be making about 35k but the gate cost is about 300k or 350k, you will need 10 days only to cover one gate, with some 50 seater is not problem make about 50 - 60k and each seat is count to route revenue.

Thanks Hal,

That makes sense. Didn't think about how many days to cover gate costs.

Next question
Seats    Speed    Range   Turn Time  Price             Fuel Usage
Fokker F27-200   52        256       1224      0.28         8,687,188     159.00
Fokker F27-100   52        231       1254      0.28         7,882,964     143.00

Is the speed difference in these two aircraft that noticable?  Is the speed number the actual MPH of the aircraft?

All of the speed figures in the game are in knots, which is nautical miles per hour..

If you're operating the aircraft towards the outer reaches of the range it has, you'll start to notice the difference in speed. It could mean the difference between a .5 and a 1 frequency flight when you start packing the routes together.

If you're spamming short range routes out of an airport though, you probably won't notice the difference.

The extra speed is worth the extra 800 000€. As Cipher said, it could mean the difference between a .5 and 1 freq route, especially when flying far. And at those low speeds, a difference of 25 knots is noticeable.

Even though it says the speed is in knots, I think it is in mph. That is because all range numbers are in miles, not nautical miles.

According to some of my sources, it looks like it's in knots.

Speed is measured in knots ingame, and the range numbers all have "NM" tags next to them, so I'd presume that the game measures in nautical miles as well..

No, actually the NM are just normal miles. At least according to Stephen.

Thanks all.  Now that I have a better understanding of the aircraft stats I can make better decsions.
