I'm relatively new to this game and I love it but some thing I don't understand.

My airline is in fierce competition on some airports with another guy and where I am flying a frequency of 2 with 1 plane, the other guy is flying two times with a frequency of 1. He is flying with 80 seater Tupolevs and Im flying with 50 seater Antonovs. I have to adjust my ticket prices downwards everytime he flies a route I am flying and my DOC is plummeting.

My question is obviously what is the difference between 1x2 or 2x1 and what makes more sense?

How I understand it...
1x2 You're flying that route twice, but charging for two flights.
2x1 You're flying that route twice, but charging for one flight.

It's a A -> B -> A -> B for the price of one and not...
A -> B - Charge
A -> B - Charge.

When you fly a 2 x 1-frequency flight, you're essentially competing against yourself, whereas when you fly a 1 x 2-frequency flight, you're not so much doing that or at least you don't notice it. That's basically the only difference.

In the case of the original poster, the problem lies more in the size of the planes, which means the competitor can charge lower prices while still making a good profit.

yeah I understood the lower prices due to bigger planes issue. I just didn't knew the difference between the two strategies.

Dank je wel
Thanks :)

O, sorry, zal het nooit meer doen

I flew quite a lot of 2x 1-frequency flights back in the old days (:P), to fill up some airplane hours.

Gelieve Engels spreken, of een Nederlandse support forum :D (yes, i admit i used google translate :P)

Well, i use to fly to very close airports (like Tokyo Narita to Tokyo Haneda) with multiple frequencies with different aircraft to fill up hours, like MrOrange said. But it actually is not good. The route is already not very profitable, why make it worse? So i think best is like 1x daily on routes with 1 aircraft.
