All pilots wear sunglasses And we always stare when we see an aircraft real close by. BTW, I got within 30 meters of another Piper when doing circuits today.

Not my photo, but it's one of the old spare-part donor frames that the school has lying around. We use it regularly for ground instruction lessons.

They were purchased and put aside/scrapped in 2007 as a cheap source for spare parts. The landing gear, some of the cockpit windows, practically all the cockpit instruments and most seats have been removed/put in flyable planes. Somebody told me that the altimeter alone costs up to 50.000 kr. when new. The engines cost between 200.000 and 300.000 kr when new. Each. A full set of new windows will easily cost you 18.000 kr.

Or you can buy a secondhand plane of this type containing all those functioning parts for just 150.000 kr.
