I am happy to say, that after a lengthy period of time we have decided to have an in-house IRC Server for the Airline Mogul Users. For those of you running Windows, you may use mIRC as a client, it comes recommended and a lot of AM Admins/Users currently use it with great success. Also available is an IRC Module for Opera.

The Server is irc.airlinemogul.com
Port 6667
The Channel is #airlinemogul
Alliances can request their own chat channels if they require. At some point in the future we may also offer live support.
There is normally an AM Admin Online, so the channel should be moderated. :)

Well at least the server name isnt some IP. Congrats to the AM mods for finally releasing this after it was first planned three months ago :P :lol:

I download the mIRC for Vista, how do I get it going?

I use mIRC on Vista. No problems.

When I use it I type in #airlinemogul and comes up with a screen and I speak, but nothing happens...

Did you connect to the right server? Then you should put
/join #airlinemogul

Okay when you open mIRC up the first time,
go to file > Select Server (a new window should be open) > Click on ADD > Insert a description > the server name being (airlinemogul.com) without the brackets > enter port number 6667 > click ADD and get back here.
If you need me to go more in-depth just ask.

You forgot to say put IRC server as #airlinemogul so I put it in,(wouldn't me go furth unless I did) pressed ok. then pressed selct/ok, then pressed connect.

Ok, swapped them around than it said all this writing saying how many members online etc. then it came up with a box saying "mIRC Favourites"

For all you guys, I recommend Chatzilla. It is an addon to Firefox. You don't have to use it, but in my opinion it is quite a bit more convenient.
Instructions:
1. Go through the installation process at the Chatzilla site (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16)
2. Restart Firefox.
3. Under Tools, choose Chatzilla
4. In the little toolbar at the bottom, you can do many things, such as:
5. Change your nick, by typing in something like /nick nwadeltaboy (using myself as an example)
6. Connect to the Airline Mogul server, by typing in /attach airlinemogul.com
7. Join the Airline Mogul channel, by typing in /join #airlinemogul
mIRC works fine, but I prefer Chatzilla myself. Try it out and see if you like it! :D

Is there any way to connect to an IRC channel online (i.e. without having to get an IRC client)? As far as I have found, there are no full IRC clients online, but only chat boxes to connect to one specific server. If there are no appropriate IRC clients online, could we add a thing to this website so that we can talk on the AM IRC channel (not necessarily in-game).

If you use Mozilla Firefox, to you can use ChatZilla. Not sure about IE...
I'll add a client for AM in the future.

After reading through this topic i have to say i am still lost. So far after several attempts i have had no luck.

But it is ultimately controlled by non-staff.
So, NO. #airlinemogul.buy.n.lease is not an official channel and AM would not take any responsibility of whatever happens in there.

All admins are moderators, and no one else is. I take as little operative action in the channel as possible, but I still take responsibility for anything that happens there.

Guys What DKTC and Mr. Orange are trying to say is We don't want to have to police the IRC and have it Cluttered with unofficial channels that do not represent what AM stands for. Having players create and password channels on AM property and not allowing us full access is the same as poaching, squatting, and theft. Please keep in mind you are users and guests, this is a service which you get for free, while StephenM pays the bills!
I have personally seen good chat sites and forums go very wrong! I'm sure you all have too. AM staff works very hard to balance the needs of the players while continuing to provide a professional yet fun environment.
I hope you will consider the above before trying to bend the rules, remember to ask before you create anything. Also the more time you spend trying to bend the rules the less time the Coders have to programming AM, because they are policing you... you want hotswap right!!??

I am unable to gain access to the ones mentioned in this thread or the one that is put up in the game itself.

The in-game one works fine for me now. You may have to give it permission to run to get it to work on the in-game one (and you also need Java). The server may also have gone down when you tried.
On another note, how does one access the mobile version of the forums?

You will need to use the address/URL in an IRC Client like mIRC. Following that address/URL will not reach the IRC server itself.

You should form AM group chats for Skype. That would be more accessible from all browsers, and currently, this plug-in is not working on Firefox, my primary browser.
