Game Strategy / Re: Best aircraft for international flights?
« on: June 15, 2009, 07:56:34 pm »
It is good that you have, for Long Haul Flights, aircrafts that have, a max of, 250-260 passengers.
My world has only more 5 months(5 days) but, in the 21 years that had passed, i would really recommend, for the 1960-70, the DC-8 62. This aircraft is Really realiable, had a good cost-bennefit and a good range.
I had buyed 5 747-200 and 10 Dc-10-40 but none of them could compare with the Dc-8-62, because their turn time are too much big and they have to much passengers capacity.
While the Dc-8-62 didn't arrive, i would recommend the Tu-114 and Tu-114D, they are really good, only the speed of the Tu-114D is a little bit low, if you consider long haul flights.

Game Strategy / Re: Scrap vs sell aircraft
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:30:37 pm »
Scrap is much better than sell in Private Worlds(because there are less players than in Public).
In Public Worlds it may be good sell the aircrafts but in private worlds i didn't se good revenue trying to sell aircrafts.
Scrapping them will be, around, 7 or 8% of it's value(in the date of the scrap).
Example: Today I scrapped one Bac 1-11-200. Age: 5,0 years, value: around 27 million. I Received 2.2 million for the scrap, in just one click.

Pilot guy,
You are right.
With long-range aircraft like Dc-8, 707 and(in recent years) A-330 and 767, use 0.5 freq in long routes. You make more profit than make 1. freq and you can still make some flights with them, until they have 2, 1 or 0 hours left per day.

Game Strategy / Re: The Most Profitable Aircraft in AM

I think Dc-9's are better than 737-100/-200. They have less fuel consumption and bigger speed than these 737.
The price for buy one DC-9-30 is bigger than to buy a 737-200 but, at the end of the game, we can see a big difference about the fuel costs(yes, they are important in the game).
About Caravelle, it's price is really low but i think at the end it"s lowest speed and higher fuel consumption could make difference, but they are good aircrafts(when I changed my Tu-104V for the Caravelle it was a good deal).

Cheung Airlines,
I didn't sell aircrafts too! One time it went more than one year(12 days) to sell one ATR 42.
It is better scrap the aircraft, you will receive less money but you quickly solve the problem.

I'm in dec-1969 in my world. My maintenance costs are: 47,934,883 and my fleet average age is: 2,2 years.
But, these costs are from an 550 aircraft fleet.
I have: 160 Bac 1-11-200(those are the bigest aircraft type in my fleet with the oldest reaching 4.5 years - soon will be retired), 110 DC-9-30, 120- DC-8-62(wich are more profitable than the IL-62), 20 Fokker F-28(i"m using this for my less-demand base, St. Louis and 90 HS-121 Trident 1E-104(a good aircraft, less fuel and price than 727-100 with more seat capacity) and 50 Ilyushin IL-62 .
So, in 1970 i thank the comments about 747, because i'm afraid about their really profit, because they have more than 400 seat, and my biggest aircraft in fleet are the IL-62.

For intercontinental flights i started using the Douglas DC-8 series -62 and, later, i joined some IL-62 to use in routes with more than 6000nm.
I Didn't think that aircrafts with more than 200 seats have a good profit, because we have to low the fare to much and the price of them is much bigger, ex: compared to a Dc-8-62, a 747-100 is 2 times more expensive.

It is curious.
I"m in 1969 in my World and i realize that the most profitable aircrafts are: Bac 1-11-200 and Dc-9-30.
About DC-9 X 737-100/200, the 737 consumes a lot of more fuel than the DC-9 and, in my case with Focus cities in Europe, the Range in 737 is not so useful(and also, the speed is bigger in DC-9(wich is very useful in European flights.
About the 1-11, i use him in US bases, because of the 89 seat, the big range and comparable fuel consumption with the DC-9(and a good price - 37 million x 51 million of the DC-9).

Just one big doubt i have: How many years should i let an aircraft flying in my company? About 4-5 years is the maximum time until i retire my aircrafts.
I saw some of my competitors still using Comet 4B, C and TU-104(wich are more expensive to but and to maintain - with a musch bigger fuel consume).
In my first world in AM, in the end of 2007, i realize that make a default in the fleet of my airline have been very useful, but i didn't retire my aircraft fleet so... the mainteinance costs became so higher that i started to losing money every end of month.
Best luck for all!
