Hi
Is it or would it be possible to have a world set to run from say 2005 for fifty years? We would need to obviously add several aircraft like the super jet, Dreamliner, 747-8 rtc, but it would be interesting to see how it happens.
You could run it as people either take over a struggling airline eg like Ryanair has three hundred old 737s that need replacing, with no money, Or a small Liverpool based airline that needs to expand to survive that has lots of money.
Just an idea....

It is not currently possible to extend games beyond 2010, but we are working on adding aircraft until 2013 so you will be able to play those additional three years.
But a world like the one you are suggesting is not possible, as that would mean adding unknown aircraft from the future.

It would have been nice to have had this so that we could build our airlines starting in say 2013 using all of the aircraft available at that time, although its great having to play through the years gone it would be awesome to build a futuristic airline now the b787 b747 and the sukhois have been added. I'm sure that Stephen would be able to to start a scenario world #2 based on this premise that goes say from 2013 to 2023?

I recently gathered some of the data we required for aircraft in 2011 & 2012. I also made a note of data for upcoming aircraft such as the Comac C919 and Bombardier C-Series. 2013 is a strange year in that it doesn't have any commercial airliners entering service so I have to modify the code we use to allow it to be used as a game year. It would then be possible to add more years beyond the current year as long as we have a forcast fuel cost for each year planned.

Could we just use something like a 1% increase each year?

There are plenty of fuel cost forecasts out there, I would probably pick a relatively well known study and take their midpoint forecast.

You could perhaps take more than one and then do a regression to get a more wide answer.

But are there not even any buisness jets entering service?
Perhaps we could limit the 787 so you can buy it for some months but then you have to wait to 2013 to simulate the battery issue. (Probably going to be too hard, but it would just be a shame with a year without new aircrafts :( )

If we are lucky, the COMAC ARJ-21 will enter service later this year. But when thinking that it should have entered service in 2007, it is highly dubious that it will enter service this year :P
