Game Strategy / Re: Scrap vs sell aircraft

If you can't sell it.  Even at decreased sell cost you'll still nearly always get a lot more by selling it than scraping it.

Bugs / Minor bug in PW #506
« on: April 20, 2009, 07:24:05 am »
Just a minor bug report, sometimes when I list my flights that are under 100% LF (using the "Show All Under 100% LF" command), it leaves out a route (always one with above 99% LF) so I have to find/reset it manually.  Not a big deal but just thought you should know...

I am attempting to change a route in PW #350 (Route is Tokyo Haneda-Hong Kong and airline name is Air Oregon) but when I do I get the following error message: "Invalid airports selected, please go back and try again."  It IS an alliance route but its one I have operated for a while, although not modified since its inception.

Game Strategy / Defaulting on a brokerage deal?
« on: March 15, 2009, 06:53:52 pm »
Is there something going on in PW #350 that all of a sudden causes a number of airlines I have done brokerage deals (private deals of course) with to default on them (not purchase them within the 3 day post-delivery window)?  I don't mind because I have more than enough cash to take the hit and I actually make more $ when they default because I just resell the planes.  Still, its strange...

Remember, the very large planes in AM are not profitable. Things like 747s, MD-11s and A340s will often cost more in maintenance than you will make back in tickets.

You guys are working on a fix for this aren't you? In the real world, economies of scale make these types of aircraft extremely profitable, though airlines must be careful when and how they use them and of course they put a limit on the numbers that they own. An example would be that 747's and A380's make the most profit on trans-pacific routes, and are less profitable on trans-atlantic where A340's and 777's tend to be profitable.

Yeah well that is because they make mucho $ on first/business class fares.  Since AM doesn't have those, we have no luxury...

Yup.  They start it earlier now and end it a week later.  Supposedly saves energy or something...

We just started DST today in the US and I am just wondering if AM adjusts for DST at any point of the year>

I have to agree with Alaska.  I fly them all the time (I'm consistently an MVP and sometimes MVP Gold.)  I do a lot of work on the west coast and their flights nonstop from Portland to smaller west coast cities help a lot..

Terminals don't make sense as a new airline.  They're simply too expensive up front and the recovery time is like 2 game years or so....

I prefer what I call the "Shock Doctrine" approach to bases.  Wait until I can afford a big aircraft order than hit a base with a bunch of flights at once.  That way you build your base while driving down your competitor's profits, while being big enough that you are a credible threat.
