America World Airlines has launched its new Frequent Flyer Program today.  The Program is Called "Patriot Points".  Points earned on a flight are based on actual mileage.  One point equals one mile and everyone earns a minimum of 500 points on every flight.  For example, any passengers flying between Portland, Maine and Daytona Beach, Florida via New York-Kennedy will earn 500 points on their flight from Portland to New York, as the flight is less than 500 miles.  Points accumulated on the New York-Daytona Beach leg will be awarded based on the actual mileage between the two cities.

Members will be assigned an eight digit Patriot Points Number for access to their account when calling to America World Airlines to book flights or just to see how many miles they have.  There are also two levels of membership:
Patriot: This is the term we will use for General Members of our Frequent Flier Program.
Executive: This is the term we will use for Patriot Points Members who have achieved elite status in our program.  In order to achieve elite status, you must accumulate 75,000 Patriot Points.  There is no time limit and points do not expire!

To join our program, please call us toll-free at: (800) FLY-AMWA

America World Airlines is taking the next step to phase our fleet of Yak-40D jets out of service.  We are now in the process of phasing out our Denver Based Yak-40D Fleet.  Replacing our Yak-40D routes from Denver will be a Boeing 727-200.  The following routes will see upgraded service due to the retirement of the Denver Yak-40D fleet:

Denver-Victoria
Denver-Eugene
Denver-Rock Springs
Denver-Walla Walla

America World Airlines has announced today that we will end daily services to Fairbanks, Alaska and Ketchikan, Alaska.  The discontinuation of air service to these cities is due to changes within the Worldwide Alliance and the Vancouver Hub has been closed.  In addition, as part of an effort to reduce maintenance costs to us, we will also be dropping Vancouver service from Juneau and Anchorage, though these cities will continue to see flights from other hubs such as New York and Los Angeles.

Statement from CEO Evan Kisseloff:
Quote
We regret pulling out of these fine cities in the State of Alaska.  We have reviewed every option in the time frame that we were allotted.  Our time is up and we have not come up with a viable option to keep these flights going.  Alitalia has closed their hub in Vancouver nearly a year ago and it has proved more effective for us to not inherit the Vancouver Hub Operations.  Most cities affected in our Vancouver pulldown will continue to have air service with us via our other hub cities.

America World Airlines has returned to Fairbanks, Alaska today after pulling out not too long ago.  America World Airlines will fly one daily flight from our Denver Hub into Fairbanks using the Boeing 707-320B Adv.

We are thrilled to be returning to Fairbanks so quickly!  The market proved well for us the first time, but we didn't have the available planes to move the flights to our own hub right away.  Now that we can make it work, we will.
Says CEO Evan Kisseloff.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Ketchikan.  We have the planes that can make the trip from Denver, so we have decided to give it a go.  All of our markets that we serve in Alaska worked very well for us.  It is great that we can bring back our award winning service to this fine town.

Up until today, America World Airlines served the Bay Area exclusively through Oakland.  While Oakland will continue to have a majority of the Bay Area operations, such as our transcontinental service from New York, America World Airlines now gives travelers the option to fly into San Francisco International Airport as well!  We have launched daily service between our Denver Hub and San Francisco today with one daily flight on the Boeing 707.  This new service allows those who have easier access to San Francisco over Oakland to still fly with us and enjoy our premium quality service at the lowest fares!

America World Airlines has added once daily service into Dillingham, Alaska today using the Boeing 727 from our Anchorage Hub!  The new service makes America World Airlines the only airline to serve Dillingham.  Though a short hour flight, America World Airlines flight 721 between Dillingham and Anchorage will still offer our premium quality service as do all America World Airlines flights!

America World Airlines is bleeding money and cannot efficiently retire old aircraft and replace them with new aircraft.  As our financial situation continues to worsen, America World Airlines has approached Worldwide Partner Alitalia prosposing a merger and is preparing to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection in New York.  The merged airline will dissolve the America World Airlines name and will also involve the end of all hub operations with the exception of New York-Kennedy Airport.  The plan will be for Alitalia to acquire any America World Airlines Aircraft while scrapping the unwanted planes.  If the merger is approved, America World Airlines will rebrand their operations as Alitalia-West though operating under the America World Airlines Certificate.  America World Airlines will will merge its operating certificate under the Alitalia name and cease to exist shortly after the transition is completed.  Though the merger has not yet been accepted, America World Airlines will continue to push for this option.
