Title: America World Airlines Ceases Operations [PW978]
Post by: LIBERTYAIRLINESCEO on November 27, 2009, 05:19:18 pm
New York-JFK Based America World Airlines
CEO: Evan Kisseloff

Main Hub:
New York-John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York City (Jamaica), NY) [KJFK]

Other Hubs:
Raleigh/Durham International Airport (Raleigh/Durham, NC) [KRDU]
Chicago-Midway Airport (Chicago, IL) [KMDW]
Denver International Airport (Denver, CO) [KDEN]
Dallas Love Field Airport (Dallas, TX) [KDAL]
Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (Paris, FR) [LFPG/CDG]
Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv, Israel) [TLV/LLBG]

America World Airlines began operating in the early 1970s with a fleet of 2 Boeing 737-200s with its first flight from New York-Kennedy Airport to Daytona Beach, FL.  We quickly expanded to include nonstop flights from New York to Chicago-Midway along with New York to Raleigh/Durham, which soon became major hubs for America World Airlines.

America World Airlines joined the Global Skyways Alliance, which quickly helped to expand our product to many new locations.  As a result of our Alliance Membership, America World Airlines began to build up a presence in Denver by launching daily service between our Chicago hub and the mile high city.  America World Airlines quickly added flights from Denver to other cities in the Western Half of the United States.  After seeing progress, Denver became our fourth hub.

Soon after, America World Airlines (AMW) decided to take its chances overseas, and we acquired our first Boeing 737 Business Jet, which would launch our all business class service between New York and London-Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom.  During that time, AMW built up a hub in London and started flying to other European destinations such as Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Rome, and Barcelona.  After a re-evaluation of the European market, AMW decided to close its hub at London-Heathrow, therefore temporarily pulling out of all European Markets.

Recently, AMW decided to take a new approach to their European presence and decided to start new nonstop service between New York and Paris.  AMW established its current hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, bringing a strong Global Skyways presence to the city.  After upgrading Paris to hub status, AMW reinstated much of its service to the European Cities that previously lost service after the pull back at London-Heathrow, though AMW still maintains daily service to London through both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports from Paris.

Currently, AMW maintains a strong presence in Florida, with daily service to Jacksonville, Pensacola, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Melbourne, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Key West, Sarasota, and Tampa.  Out of these Florida cities, AMW maintains a large presence in Daytona Beach, with nonstop service to its hubs in New York, Raleigh/Durham, Chicago, and Denver making it Daytona Beach's number one carrier in terms of available seats, number of flights, and number of nonstop destinations.

In addition to its large hub at Kennedy Airport in New York City, AMW also provides daily service to LaGuardia and Newark, the other two major New York City Airports, as well as Buffalo and new service to Islip, NY.  AMW provides daily flights from LaGuardia, Newark, Buffalo, and Islip to both Chicago and Raleigh/Durham.

This thread will bring you up to date with Press Releases from America World Airlines.

America World Airlines Announces Hub Consolidation.

America World Airlines has reviewed its current route network and is trying to decide its best viable option for additional global expansion.  The FAA has ruled that we have reached our maximum amount of Hubs by law.  In order to expand to other parts of the world through our current Hub-and-Spoke system, we would have to close one of our hubs.

Due to our situation, we have reviewed our best option for hub closure.  As a result, America World Airlines has announced that we will consolidate our two Midwestern Hubs (Chicago-Midway and Dallas Love Field) into one hub located in St. Louis, Missouri.  The process will be long, and it will be expensive.  We will try to keep as many stations open during this transition as we can to ensure that everyone will keep their air service.  The first process will be to close our Dallas Love Field hub operations and shift them to St. Louis.  Once our Dallas operations have been relocated, we will then pull down Chicago-Midway and relocate all flights to St. Louis as well.  We want to thank the cities of Chicago and Dallas for their hospitality and we also want them to know that they will retain existing service to New York, Denver, and Raleigh/Durham.

America World Airlines has announced today that we will end daily services to Fairbanks, Alaska and Ketchikan, Alaska.  The discontinuation of air service to these cities is due to changes within the Worldwide Alliance and the Vancouver Hub has been closed.  In addition, as part of an effort to reduce maintenance costs to us, we will also be dropping Vancouver service from Juneau and Anchorage, though these cities will continue to see flights from other hubs such as New York and Los Angeles.

We regret pulling out of these fine cities in the State of Alaska.  We have reviewed every option in the time frame that we were allotted.  Our time is up and we have not come up with a viable option to keep these flights going.  Alitalia has closed their hub in Vancouver nearly a year ago and it has proved more effective for us to not inherit the Vancouver Hub Operations.  Most cities affected in our Vancouver pulldown will continue to have air service with us via our other hub cities.

Title: America World Airlines Decides to Go With Merger After All
Post by: LIBERTYAIRLINESCEO on January 20, 2010, 05:32:33 pm
America World Airlines and Alitalia-Compagnia Aerea Italiana have agreed to a merger.  The merger will dissolve America World Airlines and strengthen the Alitalia Brand.  We thank all of our loyal travelers for their business and we give our full support to Alitalia.  Effective today, America World Airlines will be rebranded as Alitalia-West until the merger has been completed.  All Alitalia-West flights will be operated by America World Airlines.  Look for many hub closures and station closures as well.  Our first hub to be dismantled will be in Paris.  All service to Asia will end as well in the coming days.  The next step will be closure of our Anchorage Hub and Los Angeles Hub.  From there we will work our way east through Denver, St. Louis, and Raleigh/Durham.  New York-Kennedy will remain a major hub for the new Alitalia-Compagnia Aerea Italiana and many flights will continue to operate, such as service to Daytona Beach and other Florida destinations.  Merger info will be posted over the coming months as the transition takes place.
Title: Alitalia-West Announces Changes To Operations

Alitalia-West which currently operates under the America World Airlines Brand and parent company Alitalia have worked out an agreement to separate once Alitalia-West (America World Airlines) can reduce costs and return to profitability.  As part of the agreement, Alitalia-West will file with the FAA to rename the company America World Airlines for business purposes.  Air Traffic Control, IATA, and ICAO still recognize the carrier as America World Airlines and flight number still appear under the IATA code AMW.  In addition, Alitalia's acquisition is temporary and Evan Kisseloff, CEO of Alitalia-West/America World Airlines along with all board members will reacquire all stocks to regain ownership of the airline once the financial situation improves.  When all is said and done, America World Airlines will have a much smaller route network.  Over time, we hope to gradually build up our presence to pre-Chapter 11 levels.

Title: America World Airlines Ceases Operations
Post by: LIBERTYAIRLINESCEO on May 21, 2010, 09:23:30 pm
New York, NY-America World Airlines has ceased all operations today and the company has filed Chapter 7 at a Bankruptcy Court in New York.  America World Airlines was previously acquired by Alitalia, renaming America World Airlines as Alitalia-West, though flights continued to operate by America World Airlines due to operating certifications.  The Kennedy Airport based airline has indefinitely cancelled all flights starting today.
CEO Evan Kisseloff has released the following statement:
“My team and I are deeply saddened by today’s events.  We have failed our loyal customers and staff by ending our flights leaving everyone without a job.  We ask our staff to please forgive us, as we are looking for new jobs now as well.  America World Airlines was a great airline and bought great service to so many new places and in so many great ways.  Thank you for your dedication.”
America World Airlines has scrapped all but four aircraft.  If the time comes where operations are able to restart, the executive team wants to be ready to start up as soon as they can.
In addition, America World Airlines will terminate all lease agreements with its stations with the exception of New York-Kennedy Airport.  The website has been shut down and Frequent Fliers will be able to transfer their Patriot Points into other Airline Programs as they so choose.
