Title: REMINDER: Multiple Accounts
Post by: Daniel Doorgakant on August 02, 2007, 09:19:46 pm
Gamers,

May I remind everyone that Multiple Accounts are NOT allowed on Airline Mogul. If you are found to have more than one account, You will either be given the choice to decrease the number of accounts you have to One, or face removal from the game.

The Team and I check for Multiple Accounts regularly. If you have multiple accounts, Send an email to daniel.doorgakant(at)airlinemogul.com Notifying me of the situation, and which accounts you need to clear. It's better for you to e-mail me now, rather than me find you out. It also makes it easier for the pair of us.

Thank you for your time.

To remind you all again... please see the above post. Please email me at daniel.chan@airlinemogul.com as well. Should you be sharing a computer with someone else who have an account, please also inform us about the situation. A good practice is to email both of us

A number of players have received email warnings about their suspended accounts and a lot of players will in the near future. (I have been checking while I check the routes.) It is always good to email us before we email you. (So I can type less emails :P )

To add to above.. To make AM a enjoyable game for everyone, PM/Email either Daniel or Dktc if you suspect a player has multiple accounts. Advantages between two accounts that create unfairness in the game is also counted.

I've seen some that always seem to update very quickly (together almost) after I've low-balled someone on a route.  However, there are so many players (and so many of you that are college students hanging around the dorms playing instead of studying!!!!   ) it could also be a coincidence.

Plus I haven't played for long so I don't have a feel for all the other players yet.

   You should write it up for a credit.  Kind of like an internship...

Again, thank god the internet and PCs weren't around when I was in college.  I'd be a ditch digger now.

Nope. Your friend is more than capable to start up his/her own.

Could we use a different e-mail address? (I'm not going to do this)

Your friend and you should be using different email addresses.

Each player could only have 1 account, which means anyone using duplicated email addresses is an idiot. And even if you use different email addresses, you could only control one account in total (which basically means a player could not use different email addresses to create more than 1 account).

okay. Are the ID number randomly assigned or that number to sign up?

Randomly assigned.

And if you delete an account, can the ID number be used for another airline?

ID numbers naturally increment. every account is one higher then the last to sign up.  No, deleted accounts numbers' are not likely to be reused, unless stephen or i intervene and try to renumber everyone (which would likely frustrate most players, and i wouldn't get to keep my nice 333).

Looking at the rankings, there are 26 airlines at exactly €0 or €-1, are active, have no gates, and don't own any planes. Most of them have very similar names--yahoo000# or mummy00#, and they seemed to have been registered in batches. I think someone was funding themselves with more money and planes when they ran out.

Actually I've notticed those a few days ago...
Is there any way for you to control those kind of "dummy logins"? Or you prefer that when someone spots those kind of stuff to report them to you?

The problem is, it could be a school, college, workplace, multiple family members etc that have more than 1 account, so we cannot blanket ban.

Yeah, but what Stephen means is you can't auto-delete these kind of accounts, because there might in some cases be a reasonable explanation for it. You can't train a script to recognize these kind of airline names, unfortunately, so they have to be deleted manually which takes time.

Well... you could limit at 1 account/Ip like some other games do... but that would be kinda unfair to schools and to those who access on a corporate network... and easy to bypass if you have some Internet and Computers knowledge (Proxy servers, ip masking and so on...).

That does not work. Also, multiple family members, routers for several computers, public wireless networks...etc. would be other examples.

I clicked on this thread hoping to find out how some airlines have multiple planes while others have zero at a time when game play is frozen.

Are those accounts for game developers/owners (and therefore logically not subject to the same limitations I am), or is there a way I can get a leg up early?

Did I miss a trick somewhere?

I hear that when some players scrap planes, they automatically get sent to brokers for some odd reason. That is why you have some airlines who have multiple planes.

Yes, scraped planes get sent to brokers but we still have to pay for the planes so I've got a negitive amount in my bank account.

Admins...

What kind of notifications do you get when a new player signs up? Does it include IP address? It's crazy with the rate of new players this evening--and 95% of them immediately lease out their planes.

We dont get notifications. Basically there is a page that tells us what airlines (More than one) have been logged into by the same user.
