Aircraft lease termination Bug?

I has two a/c's leased out for say, 30 months, and they came back after 2 or 3 months. What happened?

The airline which was leasing the plane terminated the lease.

Can they? Then why would the system require a quantity of months?

So you can have your aircraft back within a certain space of time.
