AirPolaris is an airline based out of St. Louis, MO. We are currently the 4th largest airline operating out of St. Louis in terms of passengers carried (3rd in terms of gate utilization and destinations), with a market share just over 7%. We also recently opened our second hub in San Francisco, CA to better serve the west coast. We always strive for the best service for our passengers, while also ensuring maximum efficiency. Our current fleet is as follows (number in parenthesis = number on order/for sale):

We recently retired our fleet of 6 C212s, which were bought secondhand, and replaced them with 4 brand new ATR 42-500s. After some route route reorganization (which involved moving some of my original 1900D routes to larger aircraft, as well ending our first and least profitable route from St. Louis to Kansas City), the former C212 routes were distributed mostly among the new ATR 42s with some less profitable routes moved over to 1900Ds.

We have also ordered 2 Boeing 737 aircraft (-400 and -500 series) to better integrate our east and west coast operations (so you don't have to connect in St. Louis or San Francisco if you want to travel across the country), with more orders planned for the future. We are also planning to replace our fleet of Beech 1900Ds with 2 Bombardier Challenger business jets (which are equal in size to the 1900Ds they re replacing) in an experimental move. Because these planes are quite a bit faster, there will be some time freed up to serve new destinations. Because of the 4000+ nautical mile range, these aircraft can be used to reach anywhere in the continental United States (and then some). The free time can be taken up by directly serving smaller airports that are already served from another hub, but would be impractical to serve with a 737 or even a CRJ-100LR. In the future, this may be how smaller, remote airports are served (depending on the success of these planes), furthering our effort to integrate east and west coast operations.

We have just ordered our first Airbus A320-200, fitted with IAE V2527-A5 engines. The A320 series will likely be used for most trans-continental operations, as they do seem to be more cost effective to operate than 737s.

On another note, we will be accepting the delivery of our first 737 aircraft in just one day. This will be the largest aircraft in our fleet, and will most likely be used for medium-traffic trans-continental operations (e.g. St. Louis to San Diego). High traffic routes will most likely go to the slightly larger planes that are currently on order.
