I don't actually think that mobiles can interfere with airplane systems if it's only one, but if there is several hundred mobiles I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Are there any known tests on this?

A single phone can most certainly interfere with the systems. When the crew asks to turn off mobile phones, turn them off.

Testing has been done, and results have been mixed with some interefering, and some not. Thing is, the phone can be placed everywhere the passengers can go. And it can be any kind of phone, with any kind of app, and therefore a complete and thorough test is practically impossible.

How about a radio scanner to listen to the radio communications?

I wouldn't know about those, but I have my doubts about the legality of those. But it's not as if anyone ever stops the spotters at the airports, so I don't think they bother about them.

I read something on Reddit once - I don't remember exactly how it went, but it was something about phones, and each time someone recieved a message (or some signal, I don't remember) the pilot will hear a "click" in his/her headphones. I'll see if I can find that.

Yeah, the signal does something with speakers. Mostly old, I think?
