To Whom It May Concern,

I've been getting two errors lately which I wanted to report to you.  The first is the division by zero error:

ID - aircraft 1937 flying from Jackson Atlanta International to Theodore Francis Green State
Problem - Cannot adjust hours to adjust loadfactor.  Regardless of what I put in, it shows zero.
Description
Airline ID - Gisa Airlines (21702) -  PW 593

The second error I have is that some planes are either showing negative hours (i.e. -4) or are capable of flying more than 24 hours (same info as above).  Plane ID 1938 or 2456 (same room) will demonstrate what I mean.

From what I can see, this is a problem for a few others.  Hopefully you guys can fix it for everyone when you get the chance.

Thanks!

Implemented Suggestions / [Done] Extra decimal place in plane hours?
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:27:07 pm »
Hi All,

Just thought of a potentially useful addition.  Would it be possible to add 1 decimal place to a plane's hours?  It would be useful to help maximize a planes remaining hours.  Right now, we have no idea if it is 1 hour 1 minutes or 1 hour and 59 minutes and that could be the difference between being able to fly to one city or renting a gate and wasting money.

Bugs / Create route bug in PW # 350
« on: April 11, 2009, 02:22:07 pm »
Hi All,

Ran into this problem tonight (seems to have occurred to a few others here and I believe the exact same problem occurred to me recently a week ago).  That or I've lost my mind...

ID: 34850 (Hawker Siddley 121 Trident 104 E)
Type: Aircraft does not show up in route creation screen despite having enough hours and range to make the flight (in this case from Los Angeles to Philadelphia)
Description: I've triple checked the range on the Trident 104 E, which is 2443 NM.  I have 9 hours left on my Trident in question.  It is doing 1 return trip and 1 one-way trip (I could still schedule a return or one way trip if I wanted to).  I want to do a one way trip to Philadelphia from LAX, but when I go to create the route, the Trident will not show up.  The distance from LAX to Philadelphia is 2398 NM.  I have enough hours, Philadelphia is within the Trident's range from LAX and I have only one one way frequency scheduled so...must be a bug?

Thanking you guys in advance! :)

Hi All,

Sometime I've noticed from time to time, when setting up the fares for a route is that when I am very close to 100% load factor (say 99.66%) I can actually make slightly MORE profit than if I set my fare to achieve a 100% load factor.  I did really badly in statistics in University  but is there a simple reason why charging just a bit more and achieving a slightly less than 100 load factor can make more than filling up all the seats in the plane?  Is this always the case as well?

Bugs / Starting age of plane in PW # 506 is .7 years?
« on: April 04, 2009, 08:06:35 am »
Hi All,

Not sure if this is a bug, but I noticed something upon starting in public world # 506 last night.  My plane is .7 years old. :-X  I talked to another member who confirms this and I was wondering if this was put into play on purpose (to slow us down a bit ;) ) or if there was an error somewhere...

Hello!

I came across this one just now.

ID: airport JAL - Veracruz El Lencero Airport and LAX - Los Angeles with regards to SE 210 Super Caravelle 10B
Type: Aircraft cannot reach destination (will not show up in choose plane section of route creation) despite being in range (1662 NM between these two cities).
Description: I went to create a route from LAX to JAL with a caravelle (as I know a caravelle's range is 1667 NM).  The range between these cities is 1662 NM.  However, no caravelles appear in the choose plane section in the route creation screen.

Thanks guys!  Keep up the great work!

Hi All,

I have a question that has been in the back of my mind for some time.  The best way to ask it is to explain the problem (if this has been asked, my apologies in advance).

Let's say we have 3 airplanes which I'll call BIG, FAST and PRIVATE respectively.

BIG travels somewhat slow and carries a lot of passengers (200).
FAST travels almost twice as fast as BIG, but is half the size of BIG (100).
PRIVATE travels a bit faster than BIG and carries about half the passengers of FAST (52).

Now let's say that there are two cities: A and B.

My question is this: what would the passengers in AM prefer?  I am not sure if it is speed, size (privacy) or a combination of the two.

A degree of logic tells me that that some would prefer BIG up until a certain point (i.e. two cities 400 NM apart should in theory still be competitive for a slower plane as most jets take time to get up to speed and people would rather save money than arrive 30 minutes earlier at this distance.

As distance increases, PRIVATE would beat out BIG and as the distance continued to increase as it was faster and had more privacy.  FAST would win out over increased distances because of its increase in speed (which would negate the needs of privacy over time).

However, in the game it seems that smaller planes tend to charge more for a route even though they are slower: regardless of the distance between two cities.

Further, the larger planes must charge less than the smaller and usually slower planes to fill 100% of their seats.  I can't tell if this is because of the relative lack of privacy or increased supply.

Knowing what AM prefers would help to optomize my fleets and the cities they serve.  I was thinking that in 1968, argosy commuters would be the best plane of choice for short destinations, fokkers/HS-Series 78E etc for larger distances up until about 1200 NM or so, Caravelles for 1200-1650 NM and larger cities of shorter distances and Douglas/Boeings/Tridents for even larger distanced cities.

Thoughts?

Bugs / Incorrect Distance from Toronto - Harbor Springs
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:04:35 am »
To whom it may concern,

ID: Airport codes: MGN KMGN (IATA and ICAO respectively)
Type: Incorrect route distance listed (I think someone forgot to add a zero ;) )
Description: While renting a gate at this airport from Toronto, I selected it based on it's reported distance (287 NM).  However, upon renting it and discovering it was in South America, I realized there was a zero missing. ;)
Airline Details: Gisa Airlines ID 21702 PW #350

I noticed this bug while attempting to rent a gate at harbor springs.  Perhaps a zero missing?  I'm not sure but thought I'd mention it.

As well, I figure I might as well kill two birds with one stone.

ID: Gisa Airlines ID 21702
Type: Cannot update airline code
Description: Despite several attempts at changing my airline code, it will not permanently change.  After refreshing after an attempted change the code reverts to the original.
Airline Details: Gisa Airlines ID 21702 PW #350

Many thanks in advance! ^^

Hi All,

I will try to fill this out to the best of my abilities...apologies in advance!

ID: (Route) Toronto - San Francisco
Type: Incorrect listing for planes available to fly that route (in this particular case, the Boeing 727-200)
Description: Upon researching this route and the planes that are capable of flying it, I saw the Boeing 727-200 listed as capable of flying it.  However, the distance is more than the plane can fly. I double check just to be safe anyhow but yeah...
Airline Details: Gisa Airlines ID 21702 - [Public World # 350]

Thanks in advance for your help!

Game Strategy / Good time to create another base?
« on: February 28, 2009, 04:46:17 am »
Hi All,

Last new post for today: I promise. :D

I wonder...when do you guys decide to create another base?  At first, I thought I would just fill up everything I could at my homebase, but I see some other players who have expanded, who have hardly filled their bases and yet are doing quite well.

Thoughts?

Game Strategy / At what point to do you edit a route to get to 100% load?
« on: February 28, 2009, 04:39:12 am »
Hi All,

I'm a bit of a noobie, so please excuse this question if it's been asked before.

In theory, keeping a 100% loadfactor makes the most profit in the game right?

Sometimes my competitors upgrade their planes, or a new one comes into town.  That obviously changes my loadfactor in a negative way.

However, marketing fees can be a bit costly and so, I wonder if it's worth editing a route if my loadfactor changes by 2-5%.  Sometimes, I think out of spite that it's worth it to edit the route (to make my competitors consider tossing their chips in and relevelling the playing field).

Mathematically, I figure it pays for itself after one real day or two, but then if someone else is forced to edit their route, it might be cyclical...

Thoughts?

[=] Suggestions / [=] Time delay in constructing terminals
« on: February 27, 2009, 04:32:00 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Here's my first post.  This is such a great and addictive game... 8)

I would like to suggest (if it has not been suggested before) to delay the construction of terminals, similar to ordering airplanes.  Obviously in real life, it takes a lot of time and money to build a terminal.  I suppose a compromise would only be fair (maybe 2 or 3 real days to construct one) but with perhaps, a greater reward for doing so.
