General Chat / To those already doing 2+ frequencies on routes...

Bring in the Weather - thats what I say

All of those North American destinations with zillions of flights and trillions of profits should be spending a lot of that on re-routing pax.  Just think - ORD (snow); ATL (Fog); NYC/BOS (snow, rain, wind, leaves....the list is endless)

Those of us which fly from part of the world where the sun is always shining should get some concessions that we aren't dealing with stupid weather patterns

Just my $10 dollars worth

Well I am going to try another continent.  Loved playing in South East Asia, so now I am going to give Africa a whirl.  Love to see some of the routes I think should be flying right now.

Anywho, now stealing RSA's logo til I make my own!  CPT right now

I started out of a 'big' airpot BKK and soon realized why that was stupid.  SO I quickly moved to BKI which is within short-medium range distance and dual fed each of my routes and gates.  The one plane (where it has enough range) could serve both of my hubs.  I also concentrated on building a 'huge' regional network , and leaving the other guys to fight over the long haul traffic.  My third hub and fourth hubs added to the feed into existing gates.  From that point I had the financial backing to look at longer haul destinations, and to push traffic through BKK now that I had more secure routes out of less flown to destinations.

All in all, I think it was a successful strategy.  I now have 23 mil in daily profit and 900 routes with value over 4 billion.  Tonnes of planes too flying almost EVERYWHERE in south east asia (competing with WAERTH and ORIENTAL)

I had nothing but bother with UA in the states....delays, cancellations, grief from ground staff...the list is endless.  At one point I had a 100% failure rate with that airline...

and yet I kept flying with them

I have found that if you set up your network, for the most part it is stable.  Now, I do object to large aircraft being dumped on 'rural' routes.  In the real world there is no way that a A300 could be sent from Palau to Saipan unless it was being used to connect to a hub (and even then, the flight would be considerably undersold).  There should be some kind of constraints on the big planes, such as runway length or terminal size or something that prevents the huge planes from landing at a rural airport.

As to undercutting, I do agree that some people are after the 100% load factor.  Anything above 65 is okay with me, so long as it is not my nearest and dearest competitor in the hub.  I have had several routes drop down from 100s to 10s in a matter of hours - finally i ended up dropping the route and moving the plane to a more profitable one.  I draw the line however when it is my ally.
